Sheraton 2 Sheraton samoa

Talofa All Paddlers!

Alo Paopao and Sheraton Samoa are proud to present the Sheraton 2 Sheraton La’auli’ Alan Grey Memorial, on Saturday 23rd of March.

The regatta is in memory of the late La’auli Alan Grey and his wonderful legacy of development and support for water sports in Samoa. 

The 34 kilometre outrigger race starts from Sheraton Apia at 6am with prizegiving and celebration at Sheraton Mulifanua kicking off at 12.30pm.

All proceeds will benefit developing outrigger canoe paddling and water safety programs in local schools and villages.

Thank you to our generous sponsors Sheraton Samoa, Island Base 87.5 FM, M&J Ah Fook Enterprises and Loaded.

We also want to acknowledge the Grey family for allowing us to share their father’s legacy of giving back to our Samoa people. We are also inviting Sailors and SUP paddlers to join in the fun and support the cause.

All are welcome to come down to support and welcome teams at the finish line at Sheraton Resort in Mulifanua.   

 
 
 

Registration fees

  • $130 tala per paddler (individual)

  • $780 tala per team (V6 - 6 paddlers) *discounted rates till 23rd February - 90.00 tala per person or 540.00 tala per team of 6

    Note - we are open to relays and V1s if there is enough entries 

    however enquiries must come in by end on February.

 

LOCAL BRIEFING - 09/03/2018 Saturday

  • 12.00pm Sails Restaurant 

  • Briefing for local teams( oversea teams are welcome to email any questions you have)

BOAT CHECKS - 22/03/2018 Friday 

  • Boat Checks 5.00pm to 6.30pm

    • All boats must be at the Sheraton Beach within the given time for checks. (Checks are on the rules)

    • A sticker will be placed on the boats that pass the inspection.

  • Briefing 6.30pm to 7.00pm 

    Race Director will go over the program for the next day and answer any last minute questions.

RACE DAY!! – 24/03/2018 Saturday

  • 6.00am to 6.30am paddlers sign in and get your wristbands 

  • 6.30am Opening and Prayer

  • 6.40am Race Director final briefing of the start and race

  • 7.00am Start SUP 

  • 7.30am Start Group 1 – Open Women

  • 7.40am Start Group 2 – Open Mix

  • 8.00am Start Group 3 – Open Men

  • Sailing time TBC
